The famous Filmfare Awards were inducted by the Filmfare Magazine in the year 1954. The awards were initially called ‘The Clares’ after Clare Mendonca (Filmfare critic). The Best Cinematography award falls under the technical category of filmfare awards. The award has been continuously presented ever since its inception to deserving artists for his or her outstanding talent in recording photographic images in cinema. The inaugural award was bagged by Tara Dutt for the film ‘Boot Polish’ (Black &White category). Santosh Sivan, Binod Pradhan, and V.K.
