The glitzy Filmfare Awards were incepted in the year 1954. Since then the awards are constituted by the popular Filmfare magazine. The readers of the magazine choose the winners for the awards. The 50th Golden Filmfare awards were held on 26th February at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Sonali Bendre, Saif Ali Khan and Farida Jalal were the hosts of the special evening. The grand night was inaugurated with a song sung by Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana (‘Indian Idol’ finalists). Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan made his entry and lighted the ‘50 years’ drape fireworks display. The film ‘Yuva’ (directed by Mani Ratnam) swept several awards for the year 2005.
