The Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album was introduced in 1991, in 1990 and from 1994 to 1999 the award was called Best Alternative Music Performance. From 2001 to 2003 the award also included producers and engineers along with the artists. Radiohead and The White Stripes share the record number of wins in this category with three awards each. Bjork and Tori Amos have both been nominated five times, yet failed to ever win an award. Coldplay are the only artists to have won in this category for two consecutive years.
