The inaugural award was bagged by the audiographer Santheesh P.M. for the film ‘Kumar Talkies’. The movie was released in 1999 and was directed by Pankaj Rishi Kumar. The film revolves around the exploration of the relationship between a small town in northern India and its cinema.
