Oscar for Best Original Score is presented to the best substantial body of music, in the form of thespian underscore, written particularly for the film, by the writer. This segment of award was split into two categories from 1995 to 1998 i.e. Best Original Dramatic Score & Best Original Musical or Comedy Score. Later on, it was merged into a single award.
