The Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video has been handed out since 1984. The award criteria was changed in 1988 and 1989 when the awards were presented for Best Concept Music Video and Best Performance Music Video instead of Best Short Form Music Video. The recipients of the award include the director(s) and producer(s) along with the performer(s). The title of the award had several minor changes over the years. In 1984 and 1985 the award was known as Best Video, Short Form. From 1986 to 1997 (except for 1988 and 1989) it was awarded as Best Music Video, Short Form. It was not until 1998 that the presently used Best Short Form Music Video was introduced.
