The Grammy Award for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album has been handed out since 1991. The award was first introduced as Best Southern Gospel Album and honored only southern gospel music, in 1994 the title was changed to Best Southern Gospel, Country Gospel or Bluegrass Gospel Album and in 1998 the name of the award was changed again to the currently used, Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album.
