The star studded Screen Awards were kicked off in 1994 and since then all the Screen events are initiated by Mr. Viveck Goenka (the chairman of The Express Group). The Star Screen Awards stand out from other Indian film awards, as the awards are presented to the film fraternity by a panel of prominent members appointed from the film fraternity itself. The Best Story Award was introduced in 1994 and was first awarded to K.K. Singh for the film ‘Krantiveer’.
