The Indian film industry witnessed the dawn of Filmfare Awards in the year 1954. The popular Filmfare Magazine has been presenting the awards ever since its inception. The awards are considered as one of the oldest and most prominent film events in bollywood. Initially the awards were also known as ‘The Clares’, after Clare Mendonca (the Times of India film critic). The awards have been presented to the best talents of the hindi motion picture industry. The winners are chosen by the readers of the filmfare magazine. The ‘Best Story’ award was first presented to the film ‘Aulad’ in the year 1955.
