The Grammy Awards (formerly called the Gramophone Awards) was established in 1958 by the national Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry. The Children’s field at the Grammys presents awards in two categories presently, they are:
- Best Musical Album for Children - The Grammy Award for Best Album for Children was split into two in 1994, Best Musical Album for Children and Best Spoken Word Album for Children.
- Best Spoken Word Album for Children - The Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for Children was added to the categories at the Grammys in 1994. The award along with Best Musical Album for Children made up the Grammy Award for Best Album for Children before 1994.
