The Comedy field was added to the Grammys in 1959. There is only one category under this field; Best Comedy Album. From 1994 to 2003, it was changed a category known as Grammy Award for Best Spoken Comedy Album. In 1994 the award was intended for only spoken word comedy albums, it has been awarded till 2003 as Grammy Award for Best Spoken Comedy Album. In 2004 the Recording Academy decided to once again consider musical comedy works for the award and changed the name to Best Comedy Album. Six time winner Bill Cosby is the most awarded in this category followed closely by Richard Pryor with five wins.
