The Grammy Awards for the country field include awards that are presented to song writers, separate awards for male and female vocals, collaborative vocals, etc. There are currently seven awards in the country field that are presented annually, these are:
- Best Country Album - The Grammy Award for Best Country Album has been handed out since 1994. In 1965 and 1966 an equivalent award was presented instead, the Grammy Award for Best Country & Western Album. Dixie Chicks with four awards are the most decorated artists in this category.
- Best Country Song - The Grammy Award for Best Country Song has been handed out since 1965. The award is applicable only to the writer of the song. It was known as Best Country and Western Song from 1965 to 1968.
- Best Country Instrumental Performance - The Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance was first handed out in 1970. The award was presented as Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance (Orchestra, Group or Soloist) from 1986 through 1989.
- Best Country Collaboration With Vocals - The Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals was first handed out in 1988 as Best Country Vocal Performance, Duet.
- Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals - The Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal was first handed out in 1970. The award was known as Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group in 1970, for the following ten years it was titled Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.
- Best Male Country Vocal Performance - The Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance was first handed out to Roger Miller in the year 1965 for his hit single “Dang Me”.
- Best Female Country Vocal Performance - The most nominated in the category is country singer Martina McBride with 9 nominations; she never won the award though. Mary Chapin Carpenter is the most honored artist with four wins in the category.
