The year 1954 saw the rise of Filmfare Awards in the Hindi film industry. The awards were constituted to encourage best talent in Bollywood. All the award events are generally held in Mumbai and are initiated by Filmfare Magazine. The film ‘Guide’ (directed by Vijay Anand) grabbed most of the awards for the year. The story is based on the critically acclaimed novel ‘The Guide’, written by the Indian author R. K. Narayan.
