The Filmfare Awards are considered as one of the oldest awards in the Hindi film industry. The awards took shape in the year 1954 and were constituted by the famous Filmfare magazine. The 42nd Filmfare Awards were held on 23 February at SNDT University in Mumbai. Sanjana Kapoor was the host for the glamorous evening. The film ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’ (directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali) grabbed several awards for the year. ‘Khamoshi’ is one of the critically acclaimed Indian bollywood films, which was released on 9 August 1996.
