The 31st Grammy Awards show was held on 22nd February 1989, at Shrine Auditorium (Los Angeles). The Academy honored the artists for their outstanding performance in the music industry for the year 1988. Billy Crystal was the anchor for the night. Tracy Chapman, Bobby McFerrin and Steve Winwood were the artists mainly nominated in the Grammy categories.
