The Grammy Awards, popularly known as the Grammys was established in 1958. The awards are presented to artists, song writers, engineers, mixers, producers and others involved in the music industry for their respective contributions to an outstanding achievements in the history of music. The “Historical” field has just one category named Best Historical Album since its inception in 1979.
The Grammy Award for Best historical Album has been handed out since 1979. The title of the award has been changed thrice after its introduction as Best Historical Repackage Album in 1979. It was changed to Best Historical Reissue in 1980 and again in 1981 to Best Historical Reissue Album. In 1982 the Academy came up with the title in use at present, Best Historical Album.
