The alluring IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) awards took shape in the year 2000. The grand awards were incepted to give the world a taste of the Indian Cinema industry. The event landed was held in the city of Singapore hosted in partnership with the Media Development Authority. The ceremony was held on 22nd May 2004 at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore. A contingent of over 450 stars, celebrities, cricketers, industrialists and government officials were present at the 3-day event.
