The grand IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) awards were designed and developed by Wizcraft International Entertainment in the year 2000. The inaugural ceremony was held at the Millennium Dome in London. The city of Yorkshire played the role of the host for the award ceremony for the year 2007. The event was celebrated with loads of enthusiasm and zest. The show was jointly hosted by the five cities of Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, York and Hull. More than 30,000 visitors poured into the place to witness the award ceremonies. Hosts Boman Irani and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta kept the audience engaged. The films ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ and ‘Rang de Basanti’ swept four (highest) IIFA awards each in various categories.
