Millions of viewers across the world watched the IIFA debut event telecast live. The first award ceremony took place at Millennium Dome in London. An artist who writes the best screenplays is honored with this particular award. The inaugural award was bagged by Jaideep Sahni and Anurag Basu for the film ‘Life in a Metro’. The movie is basically themed on topics like extramarital affairs, sanctity of marriage and love. The film is centered on the individual lives of seven people residing in Mumbai and also includes some elements from the story ‘The Apartment’ (a 60’s classic movie).
