Mr. Viveck Goenka (the chairman of The Express Group) started the esteemed star Screen Awards in 1994. The Screen Awards are different from the other awards because they are presented by a panel belonging to the film industry. The Star Screen Lifetime Achievement Award was introduced in the year 1993. The inaugural award was presented to the versatile actor Ashok Kumar. Ashok Kumar accidentally entered the Indian film industry as an actor in the film ‘Jeevan Naiya’. He had a long and illustrious career spanning five decades. He is acknowledged as one of India’s finest actors.
