The Grammy Award for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical has been handed out since 1975. For the first three years the award was known as Best Producer of the Year. It was awarded as Producer of the Year from 1978 to 1980, 1982 to 1983, in 1990 and again from 1994 to 1997. In 1981, 1984 to 1989 and from 1991 to 1993 it was awarded as Producer of the Year (Non-Classical). In 1998 the currently used title, Producer of the Year, Non-Classical was introduced. Kenneth Brian "Babyface" Edmonds was awarded four times, making him the most awarded producer in the category.
