The Filmfare Awards were launched by the Filmfare Magazine in 1953. Since then, they have grown and have been proudly listed as one of the grandest Indian award ceremonies. The RD Burman award for new music talent falls under the special category of Filmfare Awards. The award was named after late R.D. Burman and it is presented to a new artist to acknowledge his/her talent in the film industry. The award also motivates musicians to break new grounds in composing music.
