The important Star Screen Awards took shape in the year 1994. Since then the Screen Award ceremonies are initiated by Mr. Viveck Goenka (the chairman of The Express Group). The Screen Awards have tried to distinguish themselves from the other Indian film awards by nominating and selecting the winners through a panel of esteemed judges from the film industry itself. The Star Screen Awards 2005 were also popularly known as the Hero Honda 11th Star Screen Awards, as Hero Honda had sponsored the ceremony. The Screen Ceremonies were held in Mumbai.
