Zee Cine Awards started from 1998 and is considered as one of the most prestigious award ceremonies of Bollywood. The events are initiated by Zee Telefilms Limited, largest Media and Entertainment Company in India. The jury elects the winners for ‘Zee Cine Best Lyricist’ award and the prizewinners are announced at the ceremony. The artists are presented with awards for their outstanding performance in the previous year. The inaugural award was presented to Javed Akhtar for the track Sandese Aate Hain from the film “Border”.
